Happily Ever After, Neil Small

I grew up in a Christian home in Akron, Ohio. When I began college I started studying electronics and technology at the University of Akron. While pursuing a degree in college I attended the gatherings of the Christian group with which I was raised. I received the Lord Jesus at the age of 21 in September of 1995 and became a regenerated child of God (1 Peter 1:3; John 1:12). Shortly thereafter I read a book entitled The Parts of Man by Witness Lee. Little did I know that this would change my life. I was so intrigued by the fact that man is definitely a tripartite being (1 Thessalonians 5:23), meaning that we have three parts--spirit, soul and body. However, the knowledge of this truth alone did not change me. What changed me was when I experienced this truth, this reality. I had found my human spirit. There was an undeniable reality that I had never experienced before. What was it? It was the Lord, and He was not only real but enjoyable. Although I didn't know it at the time I had found the Lord in my spirit! The truth alone didn't change me completely. I had read about the parts of man and about the human spirit. Then I actually touched my human spirit and experienced what I had read. Another factor that really had an impact on me was the local church. I saw what I read being practiced in front of my eyes. I found a group of Christians who knew how to exercise their spirit to enjoy the Lord, and it was enjoyable. After this I began to change; the Christian life began to be real to me. I had less of a taste for the things in the world. I threw away all of my music CD's (although no one told me to). My friends thought I was crazy and didn't believe what I had experienced. Eventually they stopped coming around, but at that point, it really didn't matter to me. What mattered to me is that I had touched God and I knew it. I lost a few things but I had gained God. I am now meeting happily ever after with the local church.
